Award Winning Social Media Agency Hires Former ... - inPress Online

London, Thursday 17th Jan, 2013: inPress Online Ltd. ? an Award winning UK based Social Media Agency ? today announced the appointed a former Senior level Barclays Bank Manager to the role of ?head of social media strategy? for small business. The appointment takes the London and Southport-based Agency to a combined full time and freelance staff of six, as it gears up for further expansion in 2013.

Head of Social Media Strategy for Small Business
Jim Gavin joins inPress Online after a successful 35 year career at Barclays Bank PLC. For 12 years he was head of local business for various locations, managing teams of up to 20 Local Business Managers looking

after businesses with an annual turnover of ?2,000 to ?20m. In his final two years with the Bank, which he left at the end of 2012 to join inPress Online, he served as Regional Operations Manager for both the North West of England and Greater London.

?I have spent most of my career at Barclays investing and advising in Small Business growth,? said Gavin. ?Back in the Mid-nineties, my key message was that if businesses didn?t get on the Internet and use it effectively, they would not survive. Thankfully most did, eventually! But today the same level of neglect is taking place with social media, as many businesses continue to neglect its full potential. For companies who wish to survive in today?s marketplace there needs to be an understanding that social media is something effective, something measurable, and something that competitors may well already be using.?

Family Business
Interestingly, Jim Gavin is the Father of inPress Online founder and managing director, Jamie Gavin, who set up the company in 2011 having previously worked for Publicis Groupe, the UK Magazine Association (PPA), and NASDAQ listed online analytics company, comScore. After identifying an increasing shift in consumer behaviour away from didactic to conversational media, Jamie set up the agency to help businesses and brands adapt their communications plans accordingly.

?It?s amazing that even today some of the World?s leading creative agencies simply don?t understand the concept of social media,? said Jamie. ?It?s not about reinventing the wheel, it?s about all of the media around us becoming more egalitarian and social, and that provides real opportunities for business. Of course I am delighted to have convinced my Dad to come on-board with inPress Online given the level of experience he brings, particularly in advising companies on business and marketing strategies that centre around producing return on investment. He is a huge Evertonian, and I recently went into pitch to Bill Kenwright, the Everton Chairman, so hopefully if that comes in we will be able to retain his services for as long as possible!?

Migrating Yellow Pages Spend
inPress Online helped one of its first clients, Mixamate, to migrate a ?100,000 annual Yellow Pages spend online, saving ?75,000 per annum and increasing sales in the process, and helping the Agency to develop a unique in-house formula for social media success. It has since then gone from strength to strength, with UK-based and Global clients including the International Magazine Media Federation (FIPP), Schneider Electric and 2012 BBC Apprentice Candidate, Stephen Brady?s new online packaging business, BoxGarment.

In October 2012 the Agency received a prestigious Communicate Magazine European Digital Impact Award, beating two of the World?s largest agencies, LBi and Razorfish to the Gold.
